Wizardman: Queer and Chaos RPG - Cut Supplement Appendix - The Dirge of the Hunter
A downloadable tabletop RPG appendix
Flowery language isn't particularly fitting for this appendix, so, bear with me.
Warning ahead, and in general, for explicit mentions and depictions of abuse, abusive behavior, self harm, and suicide.
I do not like this appendix, in terms of its relationship to Wizardman: Queer and Chaos RPG. I think, tonally, it is a nightmare, and cannot be properly executed in an ordinary Wizardman game without everyone either having their mood ruined, or someone being made extremely uncomfortable in a way I do not condone.
But I do see its potential. It is an explicit depiction of many of the ideas present in Wizardman: Queer and Chaos RPG; it explores abuse from an alternative perspective, and through a much more unforgiving tongue.
This is not inspired by an attempt to get into the mind of an abuser; instead, it roots in my personal moments of reflection on my own abuse, in which my memories are so muddied and broken, twisted and thorned, turned against me by design to such a point that I begin to think of myself as the abuser upon the slightest infraction upon someone, anyone else. It is the moments where I look at my own hands with a pungent fear that they're turning into the ones that I used to be so scared of.
It is a reflection on flagellation. On martyrdom. On trying so desperately to make up for the past, whether or not the sacrifice is necessary, validated, or helpful. In truth, it never is any of those. It only serves to break and destroy.
Obviously, this is not a good game. This is not a fun game. None of this makes for an experience you would want to share with most other people, nor does it reflect on the themes of Wizardman: Queer and Chaos RPG in a way that I feel builds on and expands the original vision of the game. It is, in all aspects, a bastard child of mine.
This is not reverse psychology - I do not recommend this appendix. It is cut content for a reason.
But once again, I do see its potential. And maybe you do as well.
Go on, now. It's time to cleanse.
